PDO Thread Lifts

A New Tool in the Aesthetic Tool Box – The “Thread-Lift”
Have you ever looked into the mirror and used your fingers to ever so slightly pull up your jawline or cheeks and wished there was an easy solution that could deliver a natural result? Well, your wish may have just come true, with the newly FDA approved thread-lift procedure.

As we age, progressive tissue changes alter smooth facial contours causing shadow patterns to develop while youthful highlights fade. Our cheeks begin to sag, folds and wrinkles form around our mouth, and jowls develop. Up until now, we have turned to Botox, dermal fillers, and skin care to rejuvenate our facial skin. Recently, however, re-absorbable Nova-Threads and Euro-threads have been FDA approved giving us an additional tool that allows us to age at a more comfortable rate.

Thread-lifting procedures started in the 1990’s and have been widely used in Asia and Europe. This innovative treatment works by amplifying your body’s rejuvenating powers to stimulate new collagen production. Nova- and Euro-threads are essentially needles that come pre-loaded with what’s called a PDO (Polydioxanone) suture. This suture, was originally developed for heart surgery and is one of the safest materials to be implanted in the body.

These sutures, which are carefully placed under the skin, are designed to either lift and reposition tissue or create a collagen mesh refreshing tired facial features. With this innovative tool, we can address a wide range of aesthetic issues such as jowls, sagging neck skin, marionette lines, as well as smoker lines on the upper lip. While all threads stimulate collagen results may last for 12-15 months, however, the sutures themselves are completely absorbed by the body within 4-6 months.
